"The Great Gatsby" is narrated on behalf of Fitzgerald, the likely writer Nick Carraway, who in the spring of 1922, in an era of decaying morality, brilliant jazz and "kings of contraband alcohol", comes from the Midwest to New York.

Chasing his own American dream, he settles next door to a mysterious, famous for his parties, millionaire Jay Gatsby, and on the opposite shore of the bay live his cousin Daisy and her husband, a rake and aristocrat, Tom Buchanan.

So Nick finds himself involved in the fascinating world of the rich — their illusions, love and deceptions. He becomes a witness of what is happening in this world and writes a story of impossible love, eternal dreams and human tragedy, which are a reflection of modern times and mores.
