"Rogue One: A Star Wars Story" is a science fiction action film released in 2016. It is part of the Star Wars Anthology series, a collection of standalone films set within the larger Star Wars universe. The film was directed by Gareth Edwards. 

Set just before the events of the original 1977 "Star Wars" film (Episode IV: A New Hope), "Rogue One" follows a group of rebels who embark on a daring mission to steal the plans for the Empire's ultimate weapon, the Death Star. The Death Star is a massive space station with the power to destroy entire planets, and its completion threatens the very existence of the Rebel Alliance.

Jyn teams up with a diverse group of rebels, including the brave intelligence officer Cassian Andor (Diego Luna), the reprogrammed Imperial droid K-2SO (voiced by Alan Tudyk), the skilled sharpshooter Baze Malbus (Jiang Wen), and the spiritual warrior Chirrut Îmwe (Donnie Yen). 

As they face formidable enemies and engage in epic battles, the group of rebels become known as "Rogue One." Their mission becomes a desperate race against time as they seek to retrieve the Death Star plans and deliver them to the Rebel Alliance, all while facing insurmountable odds and sacrificing everything for the greater good. 

"Rogue One: A Star Wars Story" is celebrated for its darker and grittier tone compared to the main episodic Star Wars films. The film provides a fresh perspective on the classic Star Wars saga, exploring the sacrifices made by ordinary people in the fight against tyranny and oppression.
